Consultation

Welcome to Greenwich Millennium Village Limited’s (GMVL) consultation webpage regarding the emerging proposals for Plots 501, 502 and 503 of Parcel 5 at the Greenwich Millennium Village.

This online consultation runs alongside our in-person events which will be held in the Meridian Room of the GMV Community Centre on Tuesday 1st April 2025 from 10am until 2pm, and on Thursday 3rd April 2025 from 3pm until 8pm.

On 1st April this webpage will be updated to include a link to the consultation materials we will share with the public at our events, and the consultation period will run for 21-days through to Tuesday 22nd April.

Importantly, having consulted with the local community in April, we aim to hold a second round of public consultation in early summer which will show how our plans have evolved in direct response to local residents’ comments.

The ‘500s’

As the delivery of Parcels 3 and 4 progressed in recent years, GMVL secured a change to its planning permission in November 2019 which redistributed the homes planned for the 500s across these earlier phases. Correspondingly, the remaining commercial floorspace from these earlier phases were consolidated the 500s. In 2021, Reserved Matters Approval was obtained for a 5-storey commercial (office) building at part of the 500s facing onto Peartree Way. However, the pandemic delivered fundamental and lasting change to the way we live our lives but also to how businesses operate. This has meant that there is no longer demand for a large office building and in recent months we have been working with the Council’s Planning Department and our wider project team on potential ways to optimise this site. Our current proposal is to reimagine this plot as a residential led, mixed use scheme by way of a ‘drop in’ planning application to the existing masterplan. We believe that through this approach we can deliver much needed additional homes here in a range of types, sizes and tenures, which support a smaller provision of new flexible commercial spaces around the existing square.

Our Proposals

Our current plans are for the delivery of around c.260 new homes across two buildings, with one ranging from 6-9 storeys, and a taller element facing onto the roundabout ranging from 6-20 storeys. We will be looking to include affordable housing within this scheme , with a focus on family sized socially rented homes, which is where there is most need within the Borough. There will be two new commercial spaces at the 500s, with the c.200sqm spaces fronting onto the main square to complement the existing Co-op and other outlets. Our plans focus on delivering shared spaces, including a landscaped pedestrian link and around 1,100sqm of play space focused on young children aged 0 to 11. We also aim to enhance Southern Park to cater for older children, aged 12 years and above.
