Greenwich Millenium Village once again hosted its annual Resident Association’s Summer Fayre on Saturday 15th June, perfectly capturing the essence of summer fun.

Held in Southern Park, the day was filled with interactive activities for all the family. Children enjoyed physical, creative, and educational activities, from karate to bracelet making to lessons on wildlife by Ecology Park. Greenwich Peninsula Football Club organised engaging football activities, while Peninsula Fitness hosted fun functional fitness classes brimming with upbeat enthusiasm and encouragement.

In between activities, residents enjoyed dynamic performances. The afternoon saw the captivating energy and passion of Traceworks Dance and Desi Dancing Divas as they took to the stage to display their talent. Compere, Estelle, and Sarah filled the space with brilliant music, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Sylvia Williams from the GMV Resident Association said: We had a fun filled day at this year’s GMV Summer Festival. It was a day full of activities for all ages and brought the community together in Southern Park. In between the bursts of rain and rays of sunshine we enjoyed the musical talent, dance acts, fitness sessions, karate demos etc on the stage by GMV residents and local performers. Thanks to the Royal Borough of Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund and Countryside and Taylor Wimpey for funding the event and to our GMV Residents’ Association who organised the GMV Summer Festival 2024.

There was also a wide array of food and drink to enjoy, with mouth-watering delicacies and fresh produce readily available from various food trucks. Vibrant stalls were brimming with unique, handmade goods, mesmerising guests with their creativity.

The excitement continued through the evening, with an enchanting blend of different live music providing the perfect backing track to the continued refreshments and artistic displays on offer.

Louise Knight from the GMV Resident Association said: “Despite the efforts of the English weather to dampen things, it was an impressive turn out. The stage kept everyone entertained right until the last acts, with many of those performing being our very own residents. Recognition must go to the younger kids who impressed us with some excellent singing.’
